WHY EAT RAW Jill’s personal experience
1) When did you first hear about living foods? I first heard about Living Foods in 1997, at a nutritional seminar at I.O.N. – the speaker being Brian Clement of Hippocrates Health Institute (Florida).
2) What made you decide to change your lifestyle?
In 1990, I was always tired – exhausted really. I took control of my life in 1990. My main reason was to finally lose weight (20 kilos / 60 lbs) and I sold my catering business, not realising I was unwell at the time.
3) How long did it take you to adapt to your new food choices?
It definitely took some time even though I am a qualified Chef, it still was not easy. The brain said one thing and I wanted another! Addiction of past foods!
4) Was it an easy or difficult process?
Once I realised that it would have to be done one step, one day at a time, it became easier. The more green vegetables I had the better I felt.
5) What personal changes did you go through?
I became calmer, more patient, and more aware. Understanding more of what was really important, and letting go of minor issues. Having more clarity and feeling more “Anandi” – Bliss!
6) What do you like most about living foods?
The green chlorophyll juices because I feel the benefits almost immediately. No, I did not say I love the taste of wheatgrass but is amazingly beneficial and the effects are immediate.
7) What advice would you give someone who is starting out?
Always look for guidance and go at your own pace – this is neither a competition nor a trial!!! Then go one step, one day at a time. Always eat raw / living foods prior to eating cooked food. Work on 80% raw / 20% cooked – the equivalent of an evening meal.
8) Ultimately, what are your goals?
To be able to look after myself, until the end of my life. To be able to walk, drive and do yoga and whatever else comes to mind! Always be there for others and understand that we are all at different levels.
